You can also use a size 12 Glover needle to sew beads onto commercially tanned leather. If you are using brain tanned leather a regular beading needle is fine. Waxing your thread with bees wax helps your thread from becoming tangled or knotted, and makes it easier to pull the knot out without breaking your thread. Size 11/0 is the most common size bead used in Native American bead work.
